my DA family is people I knew before becoming part of DA (at least that's true in Takumy's and Kaizer's case) then I made !S2X my husband cuz we have kinda similar subjects... although maybe he wants a divorce??

for once, i decided to take a look at the journals (normally i just delete them all) and i happened to come accross this one, well i like your sister's art so i added her to my devwatch... and i got to thinking

its unfair... women can draw nekkid women all the want and when they need they look at their own physique... guys on the other hand, need memory, materials, stock photos, tons of stuff to draw a girl... and it still comes out lookin bad (unless you've drawn women for your entire life but thats beside the point)
it also sucks for us guys because if we're seen drawing a girl (not even naked) we're perverts... if you're seen drawing a girl (nude or not) you're... designing cloths, or drawing yourselves... or given any excuse by those around you x_x

anyways... though i'd give my 2 cents... nice work otakitty, great gallery, tell your sister i said i love her art to...

im also curious... why can girls only join that club... too many perverted guys? im not a pervert i might wanna join *cries*

Actually... I'd say most of the time is the other way around.

Most of the pin-up girl art I've seen is done by guys, even my favourite artists (Satoshi Urushihara, Masakazu Katsuura) are men who execute the female body beautifully. Are they considered perverts? I don't think so, while it is true that their art is made to titillate or entice, it is mostly directed at a MALE audience and widely accepted as the norm.
That's why it's kinda weird for girls to draw sexy or provocative girls, because it would mean their drawing what they know about female bodies to entice a male audience, or then again, who knows why?

I draw girls because i like to draw girls better, the curves or their bodies are natural for me to execute; as opposed to the more angular bodies of men. I like to draw girls because they can be cute, sexy, evil, they can wear lots of things, even men's clothes and never look bad (unless you draw bad >_< heh), they're so much more versatile than male characters.... that's how I feel.
And I love breasts!! and booty! and fleshy thighs, rounded faces, delicate hands.... I just love drawing girls!!

And that's the purpose of that club. I guess it's usually seen as the "normal" behaviour among anime peepz that girls draw the boys they like (be it fanart or w/e) and guys draw the chicks, cuz when you do otherwise its like "are you a lesbian? why so much emphasis on the breasts?"
But I think we're coming close to a point where that doesnt matter. I know for certain that to some people it doesn't (like me), although I do get happy/excited when I find out it was a woman behind and illustration of a captivating girl. I want to see what us girls are capable of when illustration our own gender and giving it to others as entertaiment.

And I hope is full of frills, cute and pink!

Thank you for reading my journal even thou it has the lamest subject, I'm glad you found something that you can have an opinion about and not be afraid to discuss it. Most of the time I skim thru journals too.. heh heh
